Our field trip to London (9B)

Our field trip to London (9B)

MON 11.4.

The trip started with an early flight to Gatwick airport. We had a bus ride from the airport to Buckingham palace, where we watched the change of guards. We went to our cute little hotel named Saba hotel. We settled into our hotel rooms, which were also nice. Then we had lunch after a rest. The place was close to our hotel. It was a traditional English pub, and the buffet was good. After that we took the underground to the center and walked around Piccadilly Circus and Covent Garden. We were amazed by the beauty of London. We ate dinner at a pizza place and then we went to a little grocery store to buy some water and food. After that we headed back to the hotel after a very long day and went to sleep happily.

TUE 12.4

After a typical British breakfast we went to the British Museum. We saw mummies, big statues and the Rosetta Stone. The museum was huge and impressive. Then we got to wander around independently. Our feet were dying after all the walking. It was a beautiful day so we decided to have our lunch in a park. We got some traditional fish and chips. The weather was amazing, even though we thought it was going to rain the whole trip. After the lunch we walked to the boat dock, where we took an hour long boat ride to Greenwich. We had a great scenery of the city from the boat and the sun was shining brightly. When we got to Greenwich we walked around and went to the prime meridian. There were many tourists beside us but also local people having picnics. The area was very pretty and we saw many squirrels and dogs running free! In the evening, we had reserved a dinner in a restaurant, near the famous Abbey Road. After food we had a chance to choose where to go next: some of us went shopping, some went to center and some back to hotel. Eventually all of us got back tired but alive.

WED 13.4

On the third day we went to London Dungeon straight after breakfast. It was scarier than we thought, but it was also very humoristic and the actors were amazing. We would totally recommend it to everyone! We taught the actors how to say “apple juice” in Finnish and they were excited. The experience took our time for about an hour and a half, so after that we went to grab some lunch. Then we had booked tickets to London eye. It was warm inside the big capsule and we saw London in all its glory. We had some ice cream while walking to Natural History Museum. The museum was even more interesting than the British Museum. We saw dinosaur skeletons and stuffed mammals for example. After that we took a walk through Hyde Park and had dinner near Oxford Street (Indian food, good and trendy). Then we shopped a little on the Oxford Street and got back to hotel later than usually.

THU 14.4 (last day)

First thing we did in the morning was getting our bags packed and giving up our rooms. It was sadly a bit rainy that day, but we still decided to walk to Westfield mall (or some of us went to Chelsea arena with Jere). We shopped until we dropped! After our “little” shopping trip we had delicious lunch at a noodle place. Our bus was waiting for us in front of our hotel, where we packed our shopping in our bags and left. The bus took us to the airport in the afternoon. At the airport we just ate and bought souvenirs and sweets. Then we got on our plane and flew back to Helsinki – after all it was good to be back home again.

LONG STORY SHORT

We walked over 10 kilometers every day, so our feet were killing us every day – but we survived! All of us were tired but we kept the positive attitude. Jere and the parents there were very caring and patient (a big thank you for them!). Metro trips went mostly very well. In its entirety, our trip was amazing and worth every euro we collected. London is a beautiful city and the people’s accents were so funny! We loved every second of our fieldtrip (as you can see, Jere was enjoying himself).
